When was umbrella discovered in the world?

It was invented not discovered. It appears in carvings of antiquity eg Perspolis in Iran and was usually reserved for kings. Versions appear in all cultures and it is thus about 4000 years old as an idea, Stick umbrellas were sold by James Smith in London from 1830 (perfect for victorian Missioanries to take on their travels) - but it is only in the 1930s that we get the modern folding umbrella invented by Totes.
